There is a process in neurophysiology called refraction. It refers to a period immediately after a nerve has been stimulated before it can respond to another stimulus.
There is a vast range of refraction times in neurology. Your retina can respond at the speed of light. Your sense of touch takes infinitely longer, relatively speaking.
Conversely, the impression made by photons on one retina cell make little difference to your whole organism, while the impression made by a few neural discharges in your fingertips when you touch a lover make a profound change in your whole state of being.
See where we are going here?
Twitter is becoming the retina of the internet, receiving and registering high frequency changes, effortlessly. And requiring a serious amount of stimulation before it really makes a difference to you.
Actually I don't know if my week on Twitter has made any difference at all. Sort of like the flashes of light you created when you close your eyes really tight?
Not sure I am seeing anything here.
